WOW! This is a pop your eye balls out VERY HIGH END MONSTER!
PCGS did the right thing by not grading it MS65 (however, we have seen worse coins in MS65 holders). There are a few MICROSCOPIC ticks and lines-you need a glass to see. Dead on, this coin looks clean. The obverse is FULLY prooflike and is near DMPL status, while the reverse is more a strong semi-prooflike. Both sides are a killer yellow gold that mixes with some faint purple (yes purple) on the obverse. Miss Liberty and the details are heavily frosted and have full strikes. If you looked at this coin quick-at first glance it does mimic a proof. The eye appeal is make you drool!
PCGS 9 (w/NONE higher), NGC 12 (2 higher), CAC 1. The last major auction one of these appeared in was back in 11/05 Heritage where it sold for $16,675.00. The rarity and infrequency of these in the marketplace can NOT be overstated. A definite must see for any gold lover!
