1C 1857 PCGS MS65RB SMALL DATE

Another GEM duplicate from the collector who was a major buyer at Nafztger and Holmes Sales. This coin was in a truly world class collection!

Just a step behind the Naftzger RB coins, this coin is still amazing. Absolutely pristine surfaces are clearly visible on both sides. There are NO spots or even tiny discolorations. The colors are a deeper RB with about 40% ORIGINAL GEM MINT RED still visible. Miss Liberty and the details are well struck-however there is some minor weakness in the stars (as struck). Regardless, the eye appeal of this coin is great!

The Small Date 1857’s are just a little bit rarer than the Large Dates. PCGS 2, NGC 3, CAC 1. In RB, neither PCGS nor NGC have graded any higher. In full RD, PCGS has just 2 in MS64 with none finer. As you can see, the date is VERY undervalued and is rarer than most people realize. We are grateful for our customer to have sold us these amazing duplicates. Only the amazing Nafztger coins could be upgrades for them. If you collect GEM Large Cents, this represents a great opportunity for you to acquire a few very rare coins at still reasonable prices.
