While not quite in the league of the Naftzger coin that just sold for $28,750.00 in MS65 RD (we consider that coin the FINEST 1850’s RD we have ever seen), this coin certainly is a top tier GEM RD! We purchased it from the collector who bought the Naftzger coin. This was the coin in his set until prior to that sale.
Incredibly smooth and sleek surfaces are loaded with a full booming cartwheel luster. The color is a lightly faded and totally ORIGINAL GEM MINT RD. There are no spots or discolorations. Miss Liberty and the details actually are lightly frosted and have strong strikes (although there is some weakness in the stars). At first glance, this coin almost looks like a lightly mirrored proof (because the luster is so strong). The eye appeal is phenomenal!
PCGS 20, NGC 6, CAC 2. PCGS/NGC each have only graded one MS66RD higher. This coin will please the pickiest buyer!
