1C 1840 PCGS MS65RB N-8 LARGE DATE

LOT 614 NAFTZGER. This coin is unbelievable! PCGS did it no favors when they graded it. In our opinion, it could be called a RD and the quality is SUPER HIGH END!

Incredible blazing ORIGINAL GEM MINT RED color beams from virtually perfect surfaces. There is only a very tiny and light hint of brown (and one teenie toning dot on the reverse). No question the surfaces are fresh and have never been messed with. Miss Liberty and the details are frosty and have remarkable full strikes. The eye appeal is phenomenal and then some! This unlike any other 1840 RB we have ever seen. Why it is not a full RD only PCGS knows.

PCGS 6, NGC 1, CAC 1. PCGS/NGC each have only one MS66RB and nothing finer. PCGS claims to have graded 2 MS65RD’s (no auction records). We would still say this coin will meet or beat any RD-unless it was another Naftzger coin. These are THAT spectacular! Legend Numismatics is pleased to own and offer one of the finest “late date” Large Cents that exists. Once these coins are gone, good luck finding anything similar.
