LOT 802 NAFTZGER. No question this coin is one of the finest 1847 MS Large Cents that exists! Unless a coin came from the Naftzger Collection you will NEVER see a similar one!
We had this coin on out highest priority list to buy (based on quality and rarity). There is about 75% faded ORIGINAL Mint Red visible. The red fades into light steel and original light olive colors and is highlighted by a full booming luster. Both sides have pristine surfaces that will survive scrutiny from the strongest glass. Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck. The eye appeal is unbelievable!
PCGS 2, NGC 7, CAC 1. PCGS/NGC have graded NONE higher. Interestingly, a PCGS MS66RB was in a major auction 07/08 Heritage and it sold for $10,350.00. You know it was NOT this coin nor equal to it! A real “keepsake” coin for the serious Large cent or even Type Collector.
