LOT 618 NAFTZGER. There is no such thing as a finer 1840 Large Cent! One thing Mr. Naftzger seemed to like was Brown coins that have at least a clear hint of Mint Red.
The quality is ULTRA HIGH END. We did not buy this or any of the Naftzger coins to crack, but this one sure is inviting!
Both sides have ZERO imperfections hidden anywhere. The surfaces are smooth and have a very decent luster. About 10% original Mint Red mixes with a stunning even chocolate brown color. There are NO spots or discolorations anywhere. Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck. it is quite obvious this coin was never touched in its 169 year existence! The eye appeal is spectacular.
PCGS 5, NGC 7, CAC 1. Until the Naftzger Collection came out, you would NEVER see a coin remotely close to the quality this piece has. You are NOT just paying for a name here.
