LOT 1295 NAFTZGER. One thing we knew to do at the sale, was buy ALL the low pop dates that were in conditions we had never seen before. We bought ALL the 1857’s in MS65 except one (all are sold but this one).
In the catalog they call the color: “frosty olive and steel brown with half the slight faded mint color remaining mostly on the reverse”. We agree, there definitely is a large portion of ORIGINAL Mint Red visible. There are NO spots or discolorations. The luster is very strong. Miss Liberty and the details are exceptionally struck. You can not beat this coins bold eye appeal!
1857 in our opinion happens to be one of the most grossly undervalued and underrated late date Large Cents that exists. PCGS 3, NGC 1, CAC 1. Only NGC has graded ONE coin MS66RB. Except for the other 2 coins from this once in a life time sale, you may never see other 1857’s that are close to this coin! We were prepared to pay much more for the 1857’s we purchased. Opportunity is now and knocks as loud as can be!
