G $1 1866 PCGS MS68

$24,000.00

From the LV Collection of Gold Rarities. Tied with one other piece for finest graded by PCGS. There is no such thing as a better 1866 MS Gold Dollar!

Incredible flawless surfaces offer a satiny and semi prooflike texture. You can see every minute planchet irregularity and a stunning amount of Mint made die clashing. In fact, you do not need a glass to see the word Liberty impressed on the reverse (struck through from the obverse). The luster is intense. Both sides are bathed in a beautiful mix of warm gold/yellow gold/orange gold. There are NO spots or stains. Miss Liberty and the details are needle sharp in strike and have strong frost. The eye appeal is about as spectacular as you will ever see for a MS piece!

Only 7100 were ever minted. PCGS 2, NGC 3. The last one of these to sell in a major public auction brought $20,700.00 in 03/06 (three years ago!) Stacks. Two NGC coins sold for $23,000.00 each in 2008. These do not appear frequently in ANY grade. Opportunity definitely knocks loud here.
