$3 1860S PCGS AU50

Hard to believe that after handling millions of dollars worth of great coins over the years-including a ton of better $3 pieces, this is the first AU50 we have owned. This was a “no brainer” to select.

Highly lustrous surfaces are clean overall but do reveal a scattered tick or two (not anything so big that you are distracted). There are NO spots. The color is a mix of warm gold and some natural reddish/coppery gold. Miss Liberty and the details have decent strikes. The eye appeal is very pleasing.

Only 7000 pieces were minted. PCGS 12, NGC 12. PCGS has graded only 20 coins higher. The last one of these to appear in a major auction sold for $6,325.00 12/08 Heritage. A piece well worthy of inclusion in any handpicked set.
