1C 1839 BOOBY HEAD PCGS MS66RB N-14 NAFTZGER

We are so happy that we have been able to buy and sell a significant quantity of these irreplaceable GEMs. Ted Naftzger was the ultimate Large Cent Collector-ever. His feats will never be duplicated. His coins are a clear testament to him. Few other coins come close to the quality of the coins that bare his Pedigree.

Like so many of his other GEM Large Cents, we look at this coin with total amazement. Never do you see any coins from 1839 (of any denomination or metal) in such pristine ORIGINAL condition. The surfaces are exceptionally clean and smooth. A totally original Mint Red color mixes with some pale chocolate brown on both sides. We’d estimate this coin is about 60% RD. There are some teeny toning dots-but those are only visible in the images, not to the naked eye. Miss Liberty and the details are incredibly struck and do stand out. The eye appeal of this piece is incredible.

Only after the Naftzger coins were sold (in a perfect storm as we have described) has the general collecting public been able to see quality of this magnitude. Until now, with out exaggeration, about 75% of the “better” graded Large Cents aren’t even on the same planet when compared to the Naftzger quality. Look at how much a MS66 Bust Half or a PR66 Gobrecht Dollar would cost you today. Why shouldn’t a coin like this be at least $25,000.00 or more? You certainly are NOT going to see many others EVER offered.
