$5 1908D PCGS MS65
$36,500.00
Formerly in the collection of Jay Brahin the noted Saint collector (you know when someone like that ventures out the coins he buys has to be all there and then some). This coin is definitely all there and then some! It is also housed in an older green tag holder.
Typically, this date comes horrible. It is refreshing to see a piece not only with life, but with great color and eye appeal. Both sides are fairly clean-meaning the marks are light and very small (they are mainly on the reverse). A strong luster enhances the gorgeous two like colors of gold/yellow gold. There are NO spots or stains. ALL of the details are exceptionally well struck. The eye appeal is terrific!
PCGS 9, NGC 4. it is critical to note there are NONE higher at either service (powerful proof as to how not so nice these come). The last time one of these sold at major public auction was 07/08 Heritage where the coin realized $32,200.00. However prior to that since 2006 several have been auctioned ranging in price from $36,800.00 to $74,750.00. Right now, since the telemarketers are off the series and since there has been a slight overall correction in the market place, these have become exceptionally good values. With the services so tight and with CAC looking over their shoulders, you know they won’t be grading many more of these in GEM!
