A beautiful example of a design that came so close to being adopted. This coin is an R-4 (76-100 minted).
This coin is far superior to the dull and crusty way these typically seem to come. Deep, glittering mirrors are clean, clear, and of course powerfully reflective. An even mix of pale navy/purple/olive/rose/golden brown colors cover both sides. Miss Liberty and the details are sharply struck and have thick pewter like frost. The eye appeal is very bold and flashy!
PCGS 4, NGC 4 (This comes with another NGC tag). Only NGC has graded one coin higher (a PR66). The 2009 Judd book values a PR65 at $9,500.00. It is important to note, that a regular 1873 Proof Trade Dollar sells for the same amount in PR65! And those have 865 minted. The fundamentals are strong here.
