J-0490 5C 1866 PCGS PR65BN

$6,500.00

This is a great pattern. The metal is copper and it shows off a totally different and beautiful design. It is an R-7 ((7-12 minted).

The surfaces are remarkably clean and have decent mirrors. The clarity is is terrific and the mirrors have surprisingly strong reflectivity. Both sides have gorgeous colors of brown/pale violet/green/copper/blue. Every detail is razor sharp in strike and have light frost. Its really hard to see why PCGS only designated this coin a PR65BN-but then it is housed in an older green tag holder. The eye appeal is like the quality-fabulous!

PCGS 1, NGC 1. NGC has one higher-a PR66BN and that’s in our Simpson Collection. The 2009 Judd book values a PR65 at $6,250.00. This coin would be a tremendous addition to any Pattern set or an interesting addition to a shield Nickel Collection.
