10C 1796 PCGS AU55

While 1796 Dimes are not the rarest coin in the world,however they are 213 years old, and they are VERY hard to find nice-in ANY grade above XF. We are pleased to have been offered this quality oriented piece.

Interestingly, this piece seems to show off a lot of luster around the details. The surfaces have light and even wear-no hits or scratches. Both sides are a bold silvery white with strong hints of rose by the rims. Miss Liberty and the details are well struck and do NOT offer and serious discolorations on the high points. This is NOT one of those messed with clorox’d coins! This coin ha great eye appeal!

PCGS 18, NGC 18. We have NOT handled a really AU in a few years (the one we had was an AU58). The last one to sell at major public auction sold for $18,400.00 in 4/07 Stacks. This coin has been with a fussy collector for many years-it is NOT from any recent auction!
