10C 1846 PCGS AU58

In our 30+ year career, this is only the second 1846 10C we have ever owned. Back in 2006, we owned an AU55 which sold for $12,650.00.
When we saw this coin, we had to buy it. There is no question its a VERY high end piece. PCGS was correct in assigning it an AU58. The wear on the high points is really invisible unless you tilt the coin and use a glass. Both sides have NO major marks. A strong luster enhances pretty shades of blue/pale purple/pewter toning. When you tilt the coin you can also detect ever so light mirrors. Miss Liberty and the details are exceptionally struck. The eye appeal is delightful!
The great rarity of this date in ANY grade is undisputed. The mintage is 31,300. In ALL grades of AU PCGS/NGC combined have certified ONLY 16 pieces possibly after 20+ years of operations. IN MS, PCGS has 2 MS63’s (which we value at $75,000.00 each) while NGC has a solo MS61. PCGS 2, NGC 2. Legend Numismatics is proud to own and offer this piece to the collecting public.
