About as historically important of a coin as you can own (without spending millions). Save for some light restoration, this coin is pretty much as it was before it sat at the bottom of the ocean for over 125 years. This is a REAL treasure ship coin!
Only some very light lines keep this coin from full GEM status. The surfaces overall are satiny, very clean, and do emit a decent luster. You can tell this coin was undisturbed for a long time. The color is a beautiful yellow/orange gold. Miss Liberty and the details are exceptionally struck. The eye appeal is great!
Only about 400 of these ever surfaced-with most grading MS62/63. The PCGS pop in 64 is 128. We do not know how many are “Bro Jo’s. Most important, This is still in the original holder from the original sale. The majority have been cracked out, upgraded, and reholdered. As time goes on, fewer and fewer of these appear for sale.
