$1 1873S TD PCGS MS64

Without scaaring anyone, this has the “crusty original” look they should come with. Its definitely NOT dull or drab-but it has slightly subdued deep pewter toning that appears caked on. The surfaces are extremely clean and do emit a surprising luster. There are only a few teenie ticks visible. Miss Liberty and the details are very well struck (there is some slight weakness on the eagles upper feathers). The reverse is full MS65 quality. Had this been in an MS65 holder, we wouldn’t have flinched. The eye appeal is terrific!

Having built the all time finest ever MS set, we know what each date should look like and just how hard it is to find the pieces in MS64 and finer. PCGS has graded ONLY 4 coins higher-with the finest (an MS66) in the Legend Collection. NGC has one MS67. Regardless, it is a powerful statement when so few GEMS exist.
