J-0799 3CS-$1 1870 PATTERN SET IN COPPER

This killer 1870 set may very well be a once in a life time set of Patterns! It is impossible to go out and locate all of these-especially so well matched (we doubt if this was actually produced as a set). They are also in older sequentially numbered PCGS holders. We have NEVER seen any other complete COPPER PATTERN sets like this.

Having handled more patterns than anyone in the past 5 years, we know what exists and what does not. Many of these coins you can only find in lower grades. The few scattered higher graded pieces are locked up in at least TWO major world class collections we know of (including the worlds largest pattern Collection we are assembling). We will NOT break this set-we feel it is too important to remain intact, and we especially know it is UNDERvalued overall (someone explain us why a rare set like this isn’t worth at least $100,000.00?).

3CS J-799 PCGS PR65BN. R-7 (4-12 known). Superb! Glassy and totally flashy mirrors are clean and clear. Teh color is a beautiful mix of RD/BN/violet/green. No problems. PCGS 2, NGC 0. NONE higher in BN. PCGS does have a PR66 RB.

H.10 J-817 PCGS PR64RD. High R-6 (12-30 known). Just a few hidden lines from full PR65. The color is clear and totally original. Miss Liberty and the details are amazingly struck. Tremendous eye appeal. PCGS 2, NGC 0. There are NONE finer in RD.

10C J-833 PCGS PR64RB. High R-6 (12-30 known). About 65%++ fully Mint RD. A blush of beautiful light toning has developed. The mirrors are as clear, clean, and flashy as all the other pieces in this set. The details are perfect! PCGS 3, NGC 0. PCGS has 6 in 65 and ONE 66.

25C J-884 PCGS PR64RB. High R-6 (12-30 known). Absolutely phenonemal! This is a VERY HIGH END coin (but not a 65). The mirrors on the obverse just have the slightest bit of mellowing. The color is totally original. Like all the other pieces, the strike is insanely perfect!

50C J-935 PCGS PR65RB. High R-6 (12-30 known). Incredible! Totally original colors (the reverse is more of a RB while the obverse is 70% Mint RD). A few original toining dots are scattered about. The mirrors are incrdibly deep, clean, and have in your face reflectivity. Of couse all details are 100%+ struck. PCGS 1, NGC 1. IN RB NONE ARE HIGHER. In RD, there is one 64RD and thats it. This is NOT a common or easy to find Pattern.

$1 J-1005 PCGS PR65RD. High R-6 (12-30 known). Good luck on finding another GEM RD piece even close to this. Even in our world class pattern Collection, we have an NGC PR67RB-not a RD! Not a dipped out flaming fake RD. This wild piece is a totally orgiinal unquestionable Mint RD. The mirrors are exceptionally clean, clear, and flashy. The details are needle sharp in strike. This coin puts to shame 99% of all the later regular issue Silver Dollar Proofs ever struck! Its eye apppeal is jaw dropping and then some!

The fact that you have a totally orginal Pattern Set in an “off” metal representing all the silver (yet made in copper) coins from 1870 that is pretty much matched and is totally orginal to us represents an incredible opportunity. This is definately a high numismatic historically important set-its one of the few examples of a design that was not to be. You certainly can’t go to shows and find anything similiar (even as single coins).

We know many people resist buying Patterns because they are afraid due to unknown values. We try to figure coins like these on a fundamental basis. Example: The Dollar (J-1005), A regluar 1870 STD $1 in PCGS PR65 can sell for as much as $12,500.00 these days (cameo pieces have records up to $14,950.00), it has a mintage of 1,000 pieces and a pop of 18 in PR65. So we figured OUR COST of the dollar in the set at $20,000.00. We sincerely doubt the pop is really 2-and if it is, we’ll buy the other one! These coins have BOTH rarity and QUALITY on their side as fundamentals. Time will heal all the past misdeeds amd abuses that telemarketers have levied on the Pattern series. Also, you have a loose guide (the Judd Book) that next year will updated (they lost all our pricing information this year) to levels that are more of a reality and will give buyers more comfort. Plus, we will always buy back this set!

We really do consider this ultra cool set one of the neatest sets (of any kind) we have EVER offered. And as you know, when it comes to matched totally original sets-Legend has offered some of the very best ever!
