$3 1873 PCGS AU-53 CLOSE 3

This coin is high end for the grade. There are no noticeable marks-you need a glass to see some ticks. The surfaces are smooth and do have a very strong luster. No spots or discolorations are visible. The color is a beautiful even gold. Miss Liberty and the details are lightly frosted and have excellent strikes. Here is a strong case where the published pricing is wrong. BID for an AU50 is $11,000.00 and ditto for a 53. In the last recorded auction record for one, an NGC coin sold for $13,800.00 in 02/07. The mintage is only 100 pieces! PCGS 4, NGC 9. There are at least 50 graded higher-but those pops are skewed by the fact many were nice and got upgraded. Regardless, opportuntiy knocks loud here!
