1793 1/2C PCGS AU-55 HEAD FACING LEFT

We bought this marvelous GEM AU coin raw originally. it has only been in once (our customer saw this coin and had to have it). We graded it a lock AU58-and still think it is undergraded. We all know PCGS is famous for being tighter than tight on coins like this because they are afraid to grade them. The quality and eye appeal are stunning for a coin from 1793. Struck on a problem free planchet, this coin has smooth and slightly lustrous surfaces. The color is a an original “mint brown” that appears very a live and pretty. Miss Liberty and the details are exceptionally struck. There is practically no visible wear. In our opinion, a GEM AU like this is irreplaceable. Note: this is the thick planchet variety. We think the extra width makes it look very cool.
